When it comes to nail care, there’s a lot of misinformation out there. Here are the top myths I hear all the time—and the truth behind them.
1. “Nails need to breathe.” False. Nails are made of keratin and don’t actually breathe. What they need is hydration and protection.
2. “White spots mean calcium deficiency.” Not true. They’re usually the result of mild trauma to the nail bed.
3. “Cutting cuticles helps them grow better.” Nope. Actually, it can lead to infection. Gentle pushing and oiling is better. If they absolutely must be trimmed, get that done by a professional.
4. “Stronger nails come from acrylics or gels.” Not exactly. Enhancements protect nails, but strength comes from proper care.
5. “Manicures damage natural nails.” Only if done improperly. At Nails by Jolie, your natural nail health will always be my first priority.
